Frozen Chicken Paws for International Buyers
Chicken paws are not simply another name for full chicken feet. In wholesale nomenclature, a processed paw is cut lower on the metatarsus and consists of a shorter metatarsal portion with four digits. This distinction should be clear in quotations for markets that buy paws and feet as separate grades.
Processing and grading
A processed-paw specification should state whether nails and the thin yellow outer skin are removed, the required size or weight grade, pad condition, digit integrity, cleanliness and tolerances for discoloration, bruising or damage. Buyers may also specify how much metatarsal length is acceptable above the paw.
Commercial market requirements
Paws are commonly bought in size-graded wholesale lots for markets where appearance, intact digits and cleaning standard influence acceptance. Clear grading and packing instructions help avoid disputes at destination and make supplier quotations easier to compare.
Preparing the RFQ
Provide order volume, processed-paw standard, size grade, nail and skin requirements, freezing presentation, pack size, destination port and required documents. Certification, origin, shelf life and inspection requirements should be confirmed against the specific quoted programme.
